Love comes in many forms and often we don’t recognize it, even when it is staring us right in the face. Love may begin as a rivalry with someone we are fiercely competitive with, as was the case with Anne and Gilbert. Who can forget their first meeting that ended with Gilbert getting a slate broken over his head?

However, from this painful beginning the seeds of love were planted. Eventually, Gilbert and Anne’s competitiveness evolved into a relationship built on friendship, respect and love. It was not an easy journey but somehow love always seems to find a way.

As Valentine’s Day approaches, we want to hear your unique love stories! Kevin Sullivan’s Navillus Gallery is conducting a great contest where you could win a custom frame for your favorite photo of you and your Valentine. For all the details and to submit your entry click here.

Good luck with the contest and may Anne and Gilbert’s Love Story inspire you to write a new chapter of your own this Valentine’s Day.

TWO HEARTS RESUSCITATED... A single working mother with a one year old little girl, and a firefighter father of four girls met one night when the stars and planets perfectly aligned. It was March 17th, 2008 and three ambulances pulled into the parking lot of Katy's restaurant for dinner. Dressed in uniform blues the six walked single filed to their table. This is when Katy saw Ron for the first time. His muscular arms, his white teeth smiling as he pushed, poked and played around with another paramedic, same as brothers do, but with a busy night ahead, Katy went to the kitchen to check how the orders were coming. Later making her rounds to talk to tables she heard snickers and laughter, as she turned around she saw him, he quickly looked away. He was busted! He was checking her out. They exchanged flirtatious smiles and jokes, her eyes twinkled, and for the first time they were both almost speechless. Greg, a friend of Rons, and Landon their server worked on a plan... How could they get us together. Landon secretly got Rons phone number for Katy, and in turn gave Ron Katy's number. Just like teenagers again, with butterflies in their stomach, they whispered in their corners of how cute the other was, yet here are grown adults vowing to not be looking for love, not need love, their kids are all they need. As the night went on, they continued to flirt, they were smitten. With the modern twist, they exchanged business cards, Katy not knowing the prior plan. Ron walked away. He was at the door and paused, he turned back to find Katy still holding his card smiling, he rushed over and told her how long it had been, he wasn't sure the rules, but didn't want to wait, how long till they could talk or meet again? He was almost floating, bouncing with the desire to be with her. He did not want to lose the chance to be with her. The rest of the night seemed to drag on and on. The question was... is it? could it be? Real!?!? The two talked on the phone every night for three weeks. They were the same, they were different, they were two hours away from eachother. He lived in a different city working two full time jobs in two far away cities. How could this work? They did everything they could, driving many late nights just to have a few hours together any chance they could. When it was time to say goodbye it was like they were never going to have that time again. After only four months, Ron knew! He bought a pretty ring, one that was just as unique and beautiful as she. He asked her to go away with him, vacation, relax. And so they did. Beach side they played in the sand, ran in the waters. They hiked the Mayan ruins. On a romantic night out at a fine restaurant, he had the ring hiding under the dessert platter. The server set it down in front of her and as the dome was lifted, Katy saw the opened jewelry box. In such surprise, she raised her hands and covered her mouth as she gased. Ron took her hand, professed his love and asked the most awaited question in any womans life. "Will you marry me?" Katy was crying, she kissed him over and over her hands on either side of his face, not wanting the moment to end. As she looked down at her ring, her fingers were intertwined with Rons, she couldn't stop smiling and another question was asked from a friend who was with them that night... "well, I never heard an answer." Katy replied screaming, "Duhhhh!" They celebrated that night with champagneand chocolate covered strawberries. We married a year later with over 400 witnesses of close family and friends. We now have a life we said we didn't need, a love for eachother that is far greater than that which we ever thought we would find. We stopped looking and the fates brought us together. Romantically we both have the same saying engraved in our rings. MO ANAM CARA!
