It may seem surprising to her admirers that the talented actress has not yet been included in Canada’s Walk of Fame.
This was brought to our attention by a devoted fan, Collette Johnson, who wrote in to tell us about her admiration for Colleen. She said she had been trying to think of ways to honour the actress and recently discovered that Colleen has not yet been inducted into the Canadian Walk of Fame. “I'm absolutely flabbergasted that this honour has not yet been bestowed upon this remarkable and giving woman,” she writes.

You can also nominate a person for the Canadian Legends Award – which is a posthumous recognition of a person who made great advances in arts, sports, innovation, music or film.

Thank you Clare for posting the link to nominate Colleen Dewhurst to Canada's Walk of Fame. I had been a fan of Colleen's for a long time, but after reading her Autobiography, I came to find out what a truly remarkable woman she was. She always seemed to be involved in a cause that she believed in or was helping someone who was going through a difficult time in their lives. Other peoples needs always seemed to come ahead of her own. Colleen's passing came suddenly and much too soon. It's hard to believe that August 22, 2011 will mark the 20th Anniversary of her passing. She was a truly a great stage/TV/movie actress with a heart of gold. Remember that wonderful laugh of hers? Oh, how I love and miss that laugh! I think she should be one of Canada's Walk of Fame. She is on of the leading Characters in one of Canada's most classic and timeless movied and did a wonderful job playing Marilla Cuthbert.

Colleen Dewhurst was a brilliant actress and should definately be honored in many ways. It was the "Anne of Green Gables" movies that got me interested in Canada in the first place and the interest grew stronger with "The Road to Avonlea" series and more recently the "Wind at My Back" series. The beauty of Canada is outstanding.
