Anne Shirley is devastated at the thought of losing her best friend and kindred spirit, Diana Barry, when Diana chooses to marry Fred Wright. Fortunately, the two girls share a bond that remains strong through life’s upheavals and the passage of time.
Viewers might recognize the actor playing Fred Wright, Canada’s own Bruce McCulloch. McCulloch originally hails from Edmonton, Alberta, and is perhaps best known as a member of the highly popular comedy group, Kids in the Hall. In addition to his work as an actor, McCulloch found great success as a writer, including several feature films, and two years as a staff writer at Saturday Night Live.
Though he doesn’t have too much to say on screen, McCulloch brought a very important role to life as Fred Wright. Even as a married woman, Diana remains Anne’s very best friend, and together they proved that nothing can sever the connection between kindred spirits.
