The History of the General Store

Even in a small town like Avonlea, you could get almost anything you need at one place—the General Store!

One of the best things about writing The Heroine's Bookshelf was a chance to get "behind the scenes" with some of my favorite authors, including Lucy Maud Montgomery. What I discovered wasn't always savory...turns out my favorite authors had very real, and often very dark, lives. But the chance to go deeper, to look behind the curtain, has made my reading experience all the richer.

Sandwich Appreciation Day

It's Official Sandwich Day! We love a good sandwich, and especially the range of sizes, shapes and flavours that they can encompass. Here are a few tips for achieving perfect "dainty sandwiches" for your next get-together.

After some intense winter weather in the northeastern U.S. this week, we thought everyone might be due for some hearty, warming fare. We think this dish looks both decadent and delicious - not to mention seasonally appropriate!
