L.M. Montgomery
By Marissa Pobantz
My most inspiring female person is Lucy Maud Montgomery. When I first read the book “Anne of Green Gables“ I was eleven years old and I couldn't stop reading. The whole night I lay awake, touched by every page, every character, every situation and I loved every single word. When I finished the book I couldn't believe that it was a book, I never felt characters of a book becoming so alive to me.
In that moment it was so clear to me that this book changed my life completely and especially the female role in this book. They were described so pure, so natural, strong and powerful but in a lovely, calm, touching way.
When I finished the book I wanted to know who this woman was that wrote the book and put so much life, love and feelings into this wonderful book and so I discovered Lucy Maud Montgomery and was so lucky to get to know about her life and how her biography was. I was caught by the way she chose the words in her books and I think it becomes obvious with every single page how much she loved literature and that she wanted to send a message to those who read her books and the lines. The message was open to find for every reader, never mind if it is a man who can loose himself in the words or a woman who loves these books deep from the heart because she wants to be a little bit like one of the characters and has a piece of Anne inside herself.
Lucy's love for the beauty of words and her talent for creating life and pictures influences me still. It opened my mind for using words to touch other people and gave me strength to begin to write my own little stories, poems and thoughts.
In my opinion Lucy Maud Montgomery achieved something that is so precious over the ages, she touches people with her words, described a special female role and showed love and talent but also great emotion in every single word, line and page.
That is why Lucy Maud Montgomery influences and touches my life in a special way and will be in my heart and mind through her beautiful words.
