Actor Dylan Provencher Writes About His Career

"When I was on Wind, I think the greatest thing was the fact that I had the opportunity to work with literally the who’s who of Canadian talent. The thing that sucks about Canada versus the states is that we just don’t have enough going on here to support all of the phenomenal actors and directors that are here. On wind, we had over 500 characters over the five year run, and during the time that the show ran, I was literally brought to tears several times by the performances of several of the more experienced actors.

There was one example I will never forget; we were shooting an episode where my character had been chosen to stand to watch over the body of a girl who had died. The man who was playing her father was a very experienced actor, (you could tell on wind when someone with incredible experience would arrive on set because some of the higher level actors; Shirley, Katherine, James - would rush to see them). The scene called for a little bit of dialogue between me and the man, but when he arrived he took the scene into his own hands.

He came into the room, looked at the girl, barely spoke a word to me, and walked over to her. He took her head in his hands, spoke his last words to the girl, and starting singing the saddest song I had ever heard.

The thing that blew me away that none of this was in the script! The man had taken a scene that was already written in a very powerful way (one of the best writers we had) and just taken it to the next level…I was floored. By the end of the scene, the whole house was bawling.

My favorite thing about Wind was the collection of top notch actors I got to rub elbows with. I was lucky to be on such a great show with great people!"

I completely fell in love with this series last year when visiting my Mom in Pennsylvania. I don't get the Inspiration channel in Florida, so I was hooked every afternoon to watch it! I'm only sorry that the series ended. It is wholesome family entertainment at it's best!! Thank you to all cast members!

What an OUTSTANDING series! Unparalleled writing and remarkable sets make a great canvas for such perfectly cast talent,(for which Canada is renowned!).What an opportunity for you Hub--er Dylan. :) You absolutely held your own, showing sensitivity beyond your years. What a laugh I had learning of phenom Shirley Douglas''60s&'70s 'antics'compared to her character Mae Bailey! Did NOT know she was Mother to big fav of mine Keifer Sutherland!

I started watching wamb when I got dish tv. I never knew about the series before that! Mrs. Bailey can be exasperating, but her love of family runs deep. The quality of acting on this show is excellent! I have seen many layers from hub's character as well as from those of mae & grace. This is one show I can actually watch and recommend!

I just started watching this show recently and I LOVE it. Thank you for bringing us a heart-warming, CLEAN piece of family entertainment. Wish it had gone on for ten years instead of five.

I have watched the episodes of Wind At My Back over and over again. I would love to see the series continue. It is refreshing to watch a tv program that tells such a great story. A story that is so true to life as it was. A story with substance. It doesn't need sex scenes, cop scenes or inappropriate language. I believe most of the viewing public are searching for shows such as this one.

Loved the series...so sorry they ended..wish they would continue..the last scene with Hub and Anna at the border left me so anxious to see if they ever reunited again..I kept thinking she knew where he was in Canada and even tho she was incognito..I thought she perhaps could write him, (no return address) and let that develop....please do more shows...there is so much you can elaborate on with all these wonderful characters....especially Hub, Grace, and the rest.........

I have become totally enamored with wamb since I started watching several months ago. The writers have captured the hardships of the Great Depression on such a personal level that it becomes more than a historical event. I am so impressed with the painstaking attention to detail--sets, costume, dialogue, societal values--how well the era is portrayed. And best of all, the actors, especially the young folks. Thank you, Canada, for such a wonderful production. I look forward to every episode and seldom miss one.
