Sarah Polley, made famous for her role as the Story Girl in Road to Avonlea, was just named one of six Canadians who may change the world this year by one of Canada’s national newspapers, The Globe and Mail.

After receiving two Oscar nominations for her film, Away from Her, starring Julie Christie and Gordon Pinsent, Polley’s latest venture is the comedy, Take This Waltz, which she wrote and directed.  The film stars Michelle Williams as the wife of a cookbook writer (Seth Rogen).  Their happy marriage is put in jeopardy when she falls in love with their neighbour (Luke Kirby).  The film also stars comedian Sarah Silverman as her sister.

Take This Waltz was originally rumored to be premiering at the Sundance Film Festival this month, but it looks like it may have its debut in the Fall – perhaps at the Toronto International Film Festival.  The film is said to represent Polley’s potential break into the international “pup-cult” mainstream.

Also included in the list of Canadians to be on the lookout for is guest artist-in-residence at the National Ballet School, Guillaume Côté, video game-creator Ray Muzyka, and theatrical producer Marla Rubin.  To read the full article, click here.

I knew from the moment I watched the first episode of Road to Avonlea that this special lady would be one to look out for. It' nice to see her be such a smashing success. Congratulations to Sarah! :)
