In film news, Polley's second directorial feature, Take This Waltz, has just been picked up for distribution by Magnolia Films, after promising premieres at the Toronto International Film Festival, and the Vancouver International Film Festival. The film is a bittersweet look at relationships, centring around the marriage of newlyweds played by Michelle Williams and Seth Rogen. Take This Waltz is expected to hit theatres in the summer of 2012.
Polley is also involved in the launch of the Centre of Excellence Campaign with the Canadian Centre for Victims of Torture.
The CCVT's mandate is described as follows:
"The Canadian Centre for Victims of Torture (CCVT) aids survivors in overcoming the lasting effects of torture and war. In partnership with the community, the Centre supports survivors in the process of successful integration into Canadian society, works for their protection and integrity, and raises awareness of the continuing effects of torture and war on survivors and their families. The CCVT gives hope after the horror."
