One of Drake’s closest friends and his long-time producer, Noah “40” Shebib, got his start in the entertainment industry by taking the role of Buck Mayhew – one of New Bedford’s most rambunctious children, often getting up to mischief and involving the Bailey brothers along the way. Shebib, better known as 40, appeared in 10 episodes in the show’s first and second season.
Shebib is now a successful hip-hop producer who works for the production company Hip Hop Since 1978 and collaborates with an impressive list of musicians.
However, before switching over to the music industry, he appeared in television and films, including Goosebumps and Sofia Coppola’s The Virgin Suicides. He began working with Drake in 2005, when the rapper, then known as Aubrey Graham, was starring in the hit series Degrassi: The Next Generation.
But Shebib really made it big when he became the executive producer of Drake’s 2009 mixtape, So Far Gone. Shebib engineered and mixed every song on that album, including Drake’s hit single "Successful". He has also worked with such artists as Lil Wayne and Alicia Keys.
MTV's recent documentary Drake: Better Than Good Enough has the famous rapper praising his producer, saying "40 is everything to me. Without 40, I don't know what I would do."
Shebib's most recent work was on Drake’s debut album, Thank Me Later, which was released on June 15. To see a clip of Shebib in Wind At My Back, click here.
